Southeastern Indiana REMC is accepting applications to fill the following positions. 

​

FIBER TECHNICIAN

Primary duties include:

 - Routine maintenance and repairs to the SEI fiber infrastructure, both overhead and underground

 - Understanding fiber design, fiber splicing, and installation and troubleshooting drops to the end user

 - Utilize fiber test equipment to determine location of fiber damage and best ways to resolve issues in a timely manner

 - Work closely with property owners and other stake holders

 - Work closely with the electric side of the REMC and other internet service groups

To do this job, you must: 

 - Minimum of a high school diploma

 - Training from a trade school or technical school

 - Work experience may be considered for this position.​

UNDERGROUND LOCATOR

Primary duties include:

 - Properly locating and marking underground power and fiber lines within IUPPS deadlines

 - Become familiar with primary assigned territory

 - Collaborate with other utility locators

 - Utilize underground locating equipment

 - Interpret and read maps of utility equipment

 - Maintain consistent and open communication with excavators

 - Communicate with Members to endure specific locating instructions are understood correctly

To do this job, you must: 

 - High School diploma or GED is required

 - 2+ years experience in locating underground power lines preferred

 - 2+ years positive customer service preferred​

 - Knowledge of and experience with Indiana Underground Plat Protection Service (IUPPS) and Indiana dig laws (8-1-26)

 - Basic electrical and wiring knowledge preferred

 - Basic fiber optic communication knowledge preferred

 - Valid driver's license

SYSTEM ENGINEER

Primary duties include:

 - Responsible for improving and maintaining distribution system reliability

 - Provide engineering and technical support

 - Conduct system improvement, reliability, and economic studies

 - Identify and recommend changes to system equipment, control, and operation of the distribution system to provide safe,

    reliable and economical electric service

 - Use the multiple engineering software's provided to perform required studies

 - Maintain, operate, and expand SCADA software/hardware system and train other personnel as required for the benefit

    of the cooperative

 - Assist in purchasing equipment and dealing with vendors as SCADA system expands

 - Acquire working knowledge of Aclara system software/hardware and assist in resolving issues related to AMI, demand

    side management devices, communication issues, etc.

To do this job, you must: 

 - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution

 - 4-7 years experience in design and engineering

 - PE license preferred

 - Successfully passed the FE exam in electrical engineering preferred 

- Speak clearly and listen carefully

 - Use personal judgment and specialized knowledge to give information to people​

 - Work and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals, management, employees, members, and others

 - Have proficiency using a computer, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, complex spreadsheets, databases,

    and other locating software applications

 - Strong decision making and problem-solving abilities

 - Ability to adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines

- Valid driver's license
