SMART THERMOSTATS

On the hottest and coldest days of the year, members tend to use more energy.

Smart thermostats are an easy way to improve energy efficiency while maintaining comfort in your home. By automatically adjusting temperatures based on your schedule and preferences, smart thermostats can help reduce unnecessary energy use, lower your electric bill, and support a more reliable energy system.
When paired with demand response programs like Connect to Save, smart thermostats can also help reduce energy use during periods of peak demand—helping keep power costs lower for all cooperative members.
WHAT IS CONNECT TO SAVE?
Connect to Save is SEI REMC's bring-your-own smart thermostat program designed to help manage energy use during periods of peak demand.
When temperatures soar or plummet, heating and cooling systems across our service area use more electricity, creating an "energy rush hour." During these times, the cost of purchasing power increases. By working together to reduce energy use during peak periods, we can help lower overall power costs for the cooperative.
Through Connect to Save, eligible smart thermostats make small, temporary temperature adjustments during peak demand events. These adjustments are designed to have minimal impact on comfort while helping reduce strain on the electric grid. Members can override an event at any time if needed.
Because SEI REMC is a not-for-profit cooperative, controlling power costs benefits all members. It's a simple way to save energy, support grid reliability, and help keep electricity affordable for our communities.
